Sensei Jorge Curbelo, 2nd Degree Black Belt, Nidan, Senior Instructor

Sensei Curbelo was born and raised in Cienfuegos, Cuba, and started practicing karate Shotokan when he was ten years old. Because of his exceptional skills, he was selected as the Team Captain of the Karate Team through the different municipalities and provinces of his native country, reaching first place in his province. Sensei Jorge Curbelo developed a passion for the karate sport and started traveling around his native nation to different national karate tournaments until he achieved second place in Kumite nationwide and became a member of the Cuban National Team. Sensei Jorge was promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt in the year 2002, and under rigorous examination, he was then promoted in the year 2005 to 2nd-degree black belt for the Cuban National Commission of karate-Do and its President.

Sensei Curbelo is an expert in weapons and became the trainer of the Cuban Border Guard and the Police force. For family reasons, Sensei Curbelo stopped his karate training temporarily.

Sensei Curbelo immigrated to the United States in the year 2014, and in the year 2022, sensei Curbelo joined the Seleny Joanne Karate Association and its dojo SJ Karate in Utah, where he currently trains and teaches as one of the SJ Karate’s Senior Instructors.
